WHY TECH PACK IS ESSENTIAL PART?
Okay, you have an idea. Maybe you even went out and started getting fabrics. But how do you put your idea into practice? In short, the answer is the tech pack. And as always, Virtue + vice offers detailed instructions and a tech pack template free.
What is a tech pack?
A tech pack, also known in the industry as a technical pack or data specification sheet, is essentially a set of very detailed instructions for making a garment during the sampling and manufacturing process. You can think of it as a recipe for clothing. A Fashion tech pack contains everything you need to make the garment, as well as for instructions on how to make it: fabrics, stitches, dimensions, colors, and much more are listed along with photos and CAD (computer aids design, sketches, basically). Tech packs are also suitable as a working document in which all changes and revisions from the sampling process to production can be kept in one place.
Why a tech pack so important?
Tech packs are important as most factories won’t work with you if you don’t have them. When you turn to the factories to work with, the first thing they ask for is a tech pack. Do yourself a favor and don’t go to the factories when all you can do is say, “I am making the most suitable yoga pants out of recycled plastic.” You will be playing as an amateur and the factory will not take you seriously. Even if they agree to work with you, I can promise you that they will strengthen your holiness and will likely pay you at least twice. So, be organized and try to be professional before starting your range.
Why do factories need tech packs?

That saves them time. And whenever there’s something you can do to save time in the factory, they’ll love you a little more.

With this tried and tested method of tech packs, you ensure that nothing is forgotten. Nothing drives factories crazy for only getting half the information they need. By using the tech pack document, you can ensure that you efficiently deploying everything you need.
Tech Pack – Organizational
A fashion tech pack tracks everything. They will be added to the tech pack as the reviews progress. That way, you can open a document and see where your product started and where it is now. This removes any confusion about how the product has evolved and what has or has not changed.
Tech Pack is good for teamwork
As I said, sometimes ALL the information you need is in one place. This makes it easier to share with a team as everyone has access to the same thing at the same time, from the designers to the sales team.
What does a tech pack include?
Technical sketches
These technical sketches are also called flats. This is because they are drawings of what a garment would look like if it were laid out on a table. Usually, there are at least two sketches (but possibly more) of the front and back of the garment here. Sometimes there is even an exact detailed sketch.
Sample sizes and dimensions for Tech Pack
In general, choose small or medium brands for sampling. This section contains all measurements of all clothing sizes in that individual size.
Construction details of Fashion Tech Pack
This technical sketch highlights all the details of the garment, such as belt strips, buttons, button placket, or other noteworthy things. Engineering drawings can also include engineering data to save printer time and paper.
Tech Pack – Bill of materials
Think of this as a list of ingredients in your clothing recipe. It’s a list of all the materials that will fit in your garment, from labels and tags to fabric and thread.

Measurement / evaluation specifications
